Community Support Programs Branch

Evidence-Based Practices Programs

The Community Support Programs (CSP) Branch has a long tradition of helping the nation identify and use evidence-based mental health practices including treatments, organizational structures, and programs that work. The CSP Branch encourages the development and use of evidence-based, best, and promising practices across all activities.

The CSP Branch’s evidence-based programs (EBP)-centered programs and activities include:

Resource Centers

In past years the CSP Branch has funded two resource centers to support states to adopt and evaluate their use of EBPs:

Grant Programs

The CSP Branch funded two grant programs to support and evaluate states’ adoption of EBPs:

  • State Implementation of Evidence-Based Practices Grant Program
  • State Training and Evaluation of Evidence-Based Practices Grants

Partnerships

The CSP Branch engages in partnerships to support and evaluate states’ adoption of EBPs:

  • National Implementation Research Network (NIRN)
  • National Registry of Effective Programs and Practices (NREPP)

Best Practices Resources

Since 2000, the CSP Branch has funded a number of EBP KITs to help develop the capacity for widespread use of EBPs within the public mental health system. Additional KITs, part of the Second Generation EBP KITs series are in production. In addition, in partnership with the Department of Education’s National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation and Research (NIDRR), the CSP Branch supports two Rehabilitation Research and Training Centers (RRTCs), which conduct a research, training, and dissemination projects.
