    New Free Consumer Health Information Service Available



    A new government web site, healthfinder®, provides user-friendly access to the broad range of consumer health information resources produced by the federal and state government. healthfinder® meets the needs of growing numbers of consumers who are using the Internet to search for reliable, credible health information.

    healthfinder® helps provides links to more than 225 federal and state agency Web sites, as well as more than 1,000 other organizations at universities, associations and non-profits. The site provides access to databases, online documents, publications, clearninghouses, and referral services, as well as to more technical medical information.

    healthfinder® helps consumers become more active participants in their own health from prevention, to diagnosis and treatment. Developed by the Health and Human Services' Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion in collaboration with many other agencies, the Healthfinder's user-friendly searching capabilities and multi-subject index enables consumers to navigate vast information resources easily. The following are just a few of the more than 1,000 topics accessible via healthfinder™.
